Ideal Food Pairings With Tenjaku Whisky: Meats & Cheeses

Food-pairing-with-meats-and-cheeses-Tenjaku-Whiskey-USATenjaku Japanese Whisky is great in any form, but in our experience, it can be best enjoyed when paired with many of our favorite foods. A world-class Japanese whisky can effectively take any meal to the next level. Unlike many other spirits, we have found that the mellow, balanced flavors found in Tenjaku Whisky are able to accentuate the flavors of food without completely dominating the palate. With this in mind, we wanted to present a few of our personal favorite flavor combinations for our readers to try and enjoy for themselves.

This month, we are focusing specifically on how Tenjaku Whisky can complement various meats and cheeses. With the art of charcuterie becoming more and more common here in the US, now is a great time to offer our personal recommendations of meats and cheeses that can best pair with Tenjaku Whisky to create an unforgettable flavor experience.

Meats:

The mellow flavors of Tenjaku Whisky make it a natural selection with rich, smoky meats like steak. This is especially true for cuts of steak with more marbling like a New York strip or a ribeye. The clean, smoothness of Tenjaku Whisky can also accentuate the flavors of fattier cuts of poultry including duck breasts.

On a charcuterie board, we have found that the rich sweetness of prosciutto makes a perfect pairing with Japanese whisky. Due to its silky texture and deep flavor, prosciutto remains a favorite when accompanied by whiskies from across the globe.

Cheeses:

While wine and cheese is a tale as old as time, it’s a fact that whisky and cheese can also be an extremely natural and delicious combination. It’s just all about finding the right mix. When pairing with Tenjaku Whisky, we typically recommend a mellow, but flavorful cheese like an aged gouda or even a soft cheese like brie.

We also love Tenjaku Whisky with a serving of Chiboga blue cheese. This creamy variant of blue cheese has more low-key, buttery flavor that serves as a fantastic companion to the lightness of Japanese whisky.

These are merely suggestions. We encourage everyone to be adventurous and try to create new pairings of their own to find their ideal Tenjaku experience.
